About SMCE
My name is Sandra Hurd and I am a certified nutrition consultant with a Masters Degree from Hawthorn University, and a Bachelor Degree in Computer Technology from University of Houston. After working for Hewlett-Packard for 14 years, I left my position as a Field Support Engineer/ Project Manager to become a full time stay at home wife and mom.
One month after the birth of my son, he developed red bumpy rashes on his cheeks, chin, neck, creases of his arms, and behind his knees. He was then diagnosed as having infantile eczema. I was then informed that the eczema was a normal condition in infants and the rashes would eventually clear. I was instructed to apply a 1% hydrocortisone cream and moisturize the area often. After 1 year of being frustrated and disappointed with the allopathic treatments I went back to college and earned my Master’s degree in holistic Nutrition Consulting. I learned a lot about alternative treatments using holistic methods and how to properly apply them to children. My son responded positive to these treatments, and I was greatful that he was being treated without added toxins, medications, and evasive practices (i.e. injections, scraping, patches, x-rays, allergy treatments, etc.). My family learned to live a healthier lifestyle: we eat a cleaner nourishing diet, live in a non-toxic environment in our home space, vehicles, and have switched to safer non-toxic personal and home products. We shop more consciously, from the clothes we wear to the the places we choose to eat. As I sought professional help for my son, I met holistic chiropractors, homeopathic doctors, naturopathich doctors, other nutrition consultants, holistic chefs, and health educators who gave me effective solutions that helped my son to stop scratching. Today my son is 4 years young, and rarely have a scratch/itch episode. He sleeps silently through the night, and his skin is finally healing beautifully. Through our experiences I have been able to assist other parents find effective solutions for their child with eczema. Therefore, I created Stopmychildseczema.com.
